Our son, Alexander Robert, was diagnosed with Trisomy 13 (Patau Syndrome is a fatal chromosomal abnormality) on December 10, 2007 at 20 weeks gestation. He was born on Friday April 18th at 1:06 PM and it took four minutes for him to breathe. We were able to bring him home from the hospital on Saturday. He passed away Monday April 21st at 4:30 AM. It was the best sixty-three and a half hours of our lives, and we were truly blessed to have him with us that long. We were told about NILMDTS from a co-worker who’s sister-in-law had the same Trisomy 13 diagnosis. We met with our photographers Robin Heinen and Nancy Johnson in early April. At that time we had some pregnancy photos taken. About thirty minutes after Alexander was born Nancy was at the hospital taking pictures of our beloved Alexander. We have so many pictures of Alexander that we treasure deeply and we are grateful to Nancy and Robin for taking such beautiful photographs.
