Our precious Carly was born at 25 weeks and 4 days gestation. Doctors told us that she had an infection but couldn't identify it right away. Within a week of birth, Carly had developed RDS and a pneumonia. Through all the ups and downs of our NICU stay, we always thought in the end we would bring her home. We spent every day with her watching her grow and though she had MANY challenges we were awaiting the day we could take her home. On the 145th day of her life, we made the very difficult decision to withdraw support after learning that not only were her lungs not getting better but that her heart was failing. At the time all of could think about was holding her, saying our good-byes and expressing all of our love to her. One of the nurses mentioned that there was a foundation that specialized in infant bereavement photos--- I had no idea. What an awesome gift our photographer, Julie Williams, gave to us. We will cherish them forever! We love you Carly, until we meet again!!
