In March 2007 when I was about 24 weeks pregnant with twin boys, I had a probable diagnosis of Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS). This meant that one of the twins ("Baby B") was not getting enough nutrients from the placenta and had a very low level of amniotic fluid. We flew from Arizona to Philadelphia for further testing, and hopefully laser surgery to correct the problem. I didn't have TTTS after all, only a vague diagnosis of "placental insufficiency" for which nothing could be done. Given the grim prognosis for "Baby B" of maybe only a few weeks, we decided that we would proceed with the pregnancy as long as it was meant to be. It was extremely important that "Baby B" had a name because we didn't want him to pass away with the "Baby B" label. We decided on Destin because we felt that however long we would be blessed with him, it was his destiny.
