Genevive

Genevive

I gave birth to twin girls at 29 weeks gestation. They were both very healthy for their gestation. Feeders and growers basically, just the usual preemie stuff. Then when she was two weeks old my bigger twin, Genevive, got a disease called Necrotizing enterocolitis. In a matter of hours almost all of her bowel died off. She had two surgeries in 24 hours.... but the disease hadn't stopped progressing, she was suffering from overwhelming sepsis. They told me there was nothing they could do. I asked my sister Melanie to call a NILMDTS photographer to take photos of my Genevive. Jennifer Lamy came, She said she would stay as long as it took. She stayed for over 6 hours. She took gorgeous photos of Genevive's last couple hours of life, moment of death, and the hours my family and I spent with her afterward. We did hand and feet prints, I gave her a bath, got her dressed, held her. These precious memories are all I have left my my daughter, and she journaled the entire day for me
