We were 35 weeks and 3 days pregnant on the day of our shower for Carter. It was August 27, 2009. I got home from the shower that night and realized I had not felt him move all day long. I went to sleep thinking about what a calm baby he had been during the entire pregnancy and that he really was not much of a mover so things were probably going to be fine. I got up the next morning and had still not felt him move so I called the doctor's office and they told me to come in for a non-stress test. I did not want to worry my husband so I did not tell him I was going. When I got to the office, they tried to find his heart beat with the monitor and were not successful. So they had me call my husband to have him come to the office and they took me right in for an ultrasound. The doctor looked around for a minute and then pointed to the screen. She said, "That's the heart...I'm sorry." His little heart had been beating so very strongly only two days before and now it was still.
