Prepare Your Application
Because we offer heirloom quality portraiture, we must limit our affiliates to those photographers with proficiency in portraits work, with an emphasis on posing/positioning and use of auxiliary lighting. The images submitted with your application must not be journalistic, lifestyle or other non-posed portrait photography. If you are not a portrait photographer (i.e. landscape, real estate, journalistic, etc.), we still would love for you to apply, it just means you may need to create images specifically for the application to demonstrate the technical skills required of our photographers. Please pay careful attention to the image criteria and submit your best indoor posed portraits to ensure the most efficient evaluation of your submitted work. The most important thing to remember is that our team of reviewers is not able to review your full body of work and their decision is based primarily on the images submitted and are not a reflection of your overall talent. The images you submit are very important and those crafted specifically for the application does show dedication to the mission.
While some people are able to pull images from their portfolio, we find that those who take the time to create images specifically for the application similar to those found in our image guide are quicker to evaluate without further image submission. It also is a great way to show the dedication to our mission.
Five (5) images are required to be submitted with your application. At least three (3) of those images must demonstrate portable auxiliary lighting. The other two (2) may either also use auxiliary lighting or may demonstrate the use of available indoor lighting (e.g., a window). If you do not wish to use available lighting, additional images utilizing auxiliary lighting are accepted. Keep in mind the lighting should be used to enhance the image, not just properly expose the image.
