REMEMBRANCE PHOTOGRAPHY

AS A BEST PRACTICE IN PERINATAL LOSS POPULATIONS

Credit Hours

Approved for 2.0 contact hours*

Contact hours will be available for nurses throughout the United States.

*This nursing continuing professional development activity was approved by Colorado Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

What will I learn?

The course will share how photography is increasingly becoming a best practice for healthcare providers that deal with perinatal loss. These best practices offer quality heirloom portraits to bereaved parents, which will likely be the most priceless gift they will receive.

Providers will learn about the research that shows the benefits to parents and the difference it makes with regards to psychosocial support going forward. Providers will also learn essential communication skills for offering photographs during such a sensitive time. NILMDTS will demonstrate how to create an intimate portrait session that will elevate the quality of photographs for the bereaved families that are served.

NILMDTS will also discuss the identified practice gaps and provide guidance on overcoming them. Through interactive demonstrations, providers will learn how to offer and/or create an intimate portrait session for a family.

Is this course for you?

This course is ideal for any practitioner that deals with patients experiencing perinatal loss and will help them to reach families that NILMDTS is unable to serve due to availability, time of day, condition of the baby, or shortened timelines.

With the knowledge and skills taught, providers will be able to give their bereaved parents the best patient experience possible under the circumstances.

“I’ve always admired the work that Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep does, so when I saw the opportunity to help them help families through the new Medical Program, I jumped on it. I know the importance of quality images for grieving families and I couldn’t let families go without because of the new visitor restrictions in our hospital. I was approved almost immediately to take the Medical Affiliate course. The training was informative and the test was quick and easy. Just like that, I was approved to be a Medical Affiliate for Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep.

Little did I know when I arrived at work that afternoon that my services would be needed! The rest of the process went just as smoothly. The website is easy to navigate, the consent forms easy to obtain and the pictures simple to upload. I feel very blessed to have been given the opportunity to help these families in their time of need.”
