Creating a Legacy – Why I Emcee the Florida Walk

“Much to my surprise and excitement 6 months into marriage I was pregnant with my first child. That excitement soon turned to devastation when at my routine 20-week ultrasound we found out that our first child, a little girl, had a condition called anencephaly and would not live once born. Determined to celebrate and enjoy every moment we were given with her we carried her to term as our community of family, friends and even strangers rallied around us. Two of those people were Scott and Amanda, photographers for NILMDTS whom we contacted and met with as soon as we knew we would not have long with our little girl. I had heard of NILMDTS but never could have imagined I would need their services.

On September 1, 2013, our first-born daughter, Sophia Kyla was born and Scott and Amanda were by our side, like family, not only documenting these precious moments but celebrating Sophie’s life with us. Overwhelmed with grief we were still hopeful to have another child. 6 months later, I was pregnant again with our 2nd child only to discover at our 12 week ultrasound, much to the dismay of the doctors, that this child, another little girl carried a similar condition as Sophie, acrania, and she too would not live once born. In the midst of the deep sorrow, I carried her to term as we celebrated her life. We quickly contacted Scott and Amanda and once again they were by our side when Dasah Brielle entered the world on November 13, 2014. Scott and Amanda, with NILMDTS, have given my husband and I the priceless gifts of beautiful photos that hold such precious memories and details of our time with our daughters. Their photos fill our home and remind us and now our two other children of the precious gift of their lives.

It is an honor to serve NILMDTS as emcee of the upcoming Florida Remembrance walk. And I look forward to not only sharing my story but celebrating and remembering the lives of the countless babies whose lives have left an eternal mark of love on our hearts.”
