Our sweet Victor Dean was only with us for a short time, but he changed our hearts forever.

From the moment we learned we were expecting him, we dreamed of holding him in our arms, seeing his little face, and watching him grow. Like so many parents, we imagined the memories we would create and the life we would share together.

During my pregnancy, we received devastating news that no parent is ever prepared to hear. Victor was diagnosed with anencephaly, a rare and fatal birth defect that prevents parts of the brain and skull from developing properly. We knew that he would not survive outside the womb, and the heartbreak of that reality is difficult to put into words. Even so, our love for Victor was immediate, unconditional, and immeasurable.

When the day came to meet our son, holding Victor in my arms was both the most beautiful and the most heartbreaking moment of my life. Every second with him was precious.

The photographs taken by Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep mean more to our family than we can ever express. They capture more than Victor's tiny features. They preserve the love, hope, and connection we shared during our brief time together. These images serve as a lasting reminder that Victor was here, that he is deeply loved, and that his life mattered.

The gift of bereavement photography has allowed us to hold on to memories that might otherwise feel distant with time. Each photograph tells the story of our son and gives us something tangible to cherish as we navigate life after infant loss.

Victor Dean may have only been with us for a short while, but he will always be our little angel. We find comfort in believing that he is watching over us and his baby brother, Kane, from heaven. His life, though brief, taught us about the depth of love, the strength of the human heart, and the beauty that can exist even in the most painful moments.

Victor will always be part of our family, and we will carry his memory with us forever.

Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, a dedicated 501(c)(3) non-profit, offers families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss with complimentary remembrance portraits, capturing precious moments with their babies.
